Nursery Update 5

I'm hoping to make a few more for a mobile. We'll see if my energy level allows for such a task.

It is really lovely in person.  I saw it and couldn't walk away from it.  That doesn't happen very often, but it spoke to me...and I like holding it too because the wood is so smooth and cool.

Nursery Update 4

Just a few cuties up on the wall.

The shelf was $7.99 at Ross.  The monkey was a gift from my mom at Christmas because I said I'd never had a sock monkey.  The elephant sculpture is solid wood and has beautiful scrollwork down the side; $9.99 from Ross.  Yay for cheap finds.  The little bird you can barely see is handmade from my sewing room.

Nursery Update 3

Sorry the picture is so dark...the other one had a horrible flash mark across the whole thing.  I can't show the whole mural just yet...but this gives you an idea.  I wanted to paint the room because right now it's this horrible sweet green color that annoys me, but I don't want to paint.  So, the room has stayed it's lovely shade of green and I'm just going to work around it.  Working on this tree mural with lots of creatures.  More to come.

Nursery Update 2

 Nevermind the Christmas tree in the background.  It is actually in a closet that doesn't have any doors on it.  I'm patiently awaiting someone to figure out a better place for it than the nursery(formerly the office) closet or the garage.  I can't lift it anymore, so it may just stay there until after Christmas.

Anyway...the real topic is this chair.

This is the before; one of two gliders my parents purchased almost 15 years ago.  The other one actually gets used, but since this wasn't in use they decided to let us borrow it for the nursery.  It sits really well, and the price was right, but I decided it needed a face lift.  

So I did this;

Isn't it pretty?!!!  If I'd had enough fabric I would have done the whole thing the same as the seat cushion, but there was barely enough to cover that so I went with a coordinating fabric for the back cushion.  I've not decided if I'll attempt to cover the footstool.  I actually just made slip covers for the seat and back cushions, but based on the way the foot stool is made that isn't possible.  So, we'll see.  And yes, the tree is still there...I just ignore it.
